What would you do if an oil company was planning to build pipeline through your back yard?
For us, the question is very real. Within the next four months, the US State Department will decide whether to approve the KeystoneXL pipeline that would ship nearly one million barrels of toxic “diluted bitumen” per day through the pristine rural landscapes that we call home.
Like many along the proposed route, we’re standing up to defend our rights and oppose this dangerous pipeline. We want water that’s safe to drink, land that’s fit for our families, and a way of life free from the threats and harassment of a foreign corporation.
This summer, we’re spending 10 days traveling the proposed route of the pipeline to tell our story and hear from those that will bear our same burden.

This pipeline must be stopped!
Hi. Good luck with this! I’m a little too far South to meet up (I live in Edinburg, and travel everywhere by bicycle.) But if there’s any thing I can do to help from here, please let me know.
Is the tour picking people up along the way? That is, could I go on one of your buses rather than by myself?
PIPELINE TO CHINA
The purpose of this pipeline is to raise the price of tarsands oil by bypassing Midwest oil refineries, otherwise why would they be building it? Why would they spend money on a pipeline that would lower their profits?
The use of imment domain is illegal without there being some “public use”. There will be no benefit to the public if this pipeline is built. The price of gasoline will actually increase by 4 billion dollars according to testimony given by representatives of Keystone XL when they were trying to raise money from the oil companies who stand to benefit.
The real purpose of this pipeline is to get tarsands bitumen to the coast where it will be on the world market and can be shipped out of the country. Why else would China be one of the major investors?
I cant be there so I donated cash. Please do the same if you can.
Love the whole idea! Will be watching for postings. I have full confidence in your group. Thanks for what you are doing. Take good care of Eleanor.
The send-off rally for David Daniel and his traveling companies went very well today in Tyler despite the intense heat–about 108, I believe. The group is traveling in a big RV painted with Stop Tars Sands Pipelines symbols and messages. People will realize that something impressive and important is moving along the highways and through the towns along the route to Washington. But, best of all are David and the other articulate, well-informed, well-meaning members of East Texas’ anti-Keystone XL group. They will make a significant contribution to the all-important protest in Washington. We wish them and the other protesters God’s speed.
I am so sorry that I was out of town and could not be in Tyler, Texas to support you. My husband an I could have swelled the crowd to 110 if we had been here. Good luck and I am on your side – against the “Abominable Tar Sands”.
I wish you the best of luck! I will be following and posting your progress on my Facebook, raising awareness in my small way. Godspeed!
Any chance you will make a stop in Dallas????
Wishing the entire STOP group much success during this tour. This is such a brave and total commitment to such an important cause. Our prayers are with you and the entire groups for your safety, especially during this hurricane scare. Hopefully, the bus created interest while going thru various cities and more people became aware of the dangers of this pipeline. Be careful and may God be with you along the way.
come to madison. i live near there and might be able to help more directly. thank you for all your efforts..
There is a pipeline that runs within a mile of our home in Holly, MI. It is part of the pipeline that had a spill in Kalamazoo. After the polluting spill they had a crew, mostly from Minnesota, replacing the pipeline. One of the crew was stopping traffic on the rural, dirt road where they were working to allow a piece of equipment to be unloaded. We talked with him while we waited and he told us that they had to wear protective masks if they were near the oil. Quite a few trees were lost in order for them to clear the way for their work. I had been watching a few young Catalpa trees growing up and they were all destroyed. Who is gaining from these pipelines? Why should people and wildlife and trees be placed in danger when the piplines are replaced, installed,or worse yet, if they have a spill so that a few people gain from these dangerous polluting pipelines. It is a very scary prospect.
There is nothing good about this pipeline which threatens wildlife, waterways and aquafirs, air quality…all just to get the dirtiest and most expensive oil transported to the Gulf and Then What!
